Research Interests
Hailong Tian joined the Department of Linguistics and English Language in 2006 as investigator and network facilitator of "New Discourses in Contemporary China (NDCC)", a Leverhulme funded network project (No. F001850) which, based on Lancaster University, has links with Nankai University and Tianjin University of Commerce, China. Hailong Tian is also professor of linguistics in Tianjin University of Commerce. His research interests include sociolinguistics and discourse studies in relation to sociopolitical changes in contemporary China. He has published research articles, book chapters and book reviews, and has finished his national research project "Critical Studies of Chinese Discourse" funded by China's National Social Sciences Grant (03BYY024). In addition to NDCC, he is currently working on "Discourse, Tourism and Globalization", a Tianjin Social Sciences Grant funded research project.
