Anthropology of writing: understanding textually-mediated worlds
Summary: This is a project to bring together French and British research on reading and writing. Project Description
As part of the project, I am co-editing a book (to be published by CONTINUUM) that brings together works by British and French researchers on writing. Both countries have an important tradition of research in this area. But until recently, there was no contact between the two sides. In 2008, we organised a seminar to bring together colleagues from both sides of the Channel. In addition to producing a book, we have obtained funding from the British Council to continue the dialogue initiated at the conference and to allow several doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to visit the EHESS in Paris to deepen the exchange and plan further joint activities.
