Founded in 1989, the Centre for Research in Language Education (CRILE) is located within the Department of Linguistics and English Language at Lancaster Univeristy.

It exists to promote research and scholarship in all aspects of language teaching, learning and testing/assessment. It does so via individual members' research and publications, the activities of its constituent research groups, the hosting of conferences and so on.
