MA student receives 2010 IELTS Caroline Clapham MA Dissertation Award

Date: 24 November 2010

Thom Kiddle, a student on the MA in Laguage Testing by distance, has been awarded the 2010 IELTS Caroline Clapham MA Dissertation Award. Thom will be invited to a formal, public presentation of the award at the 2011 Language Testing Research Colloquium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA (25-27 June) where he will also present his study entitled "The effect of mode of response on a semi-direct test of oral proficiency".

The dissertations of two other MA in Language Testing students, Gerard Seinhorst and Miguel Fernandez, were also recognised as having very high quality. The Award Committee therefore decided to issue a special "Commended" certificate to Gerard for his investigation of the effects of reducing the number of options per item on the quality of a multiple-choice reading test.
