The Research in Language, Gender and
Sexuality (RiGLS), Department of Linguistics and
English Language, is a forum set up to discuss current issues in language and
gender research. The founder and coordinator of RiGLS
is Jane Sunderland.
Within RiGLS, scholars with a research interest in
Gender, Sexuality and Language meet on a regular basis to discuss their own
work in a constructive but critical way, network with
others interested in gender/sexuality research, read and discuss
journal articles and chapters, host guest speakers and run mock vivas for doctoral students working in the area. We are
interested in developing collaborative interdisciplinary research proposals.
The forum is open to all academic staff and to post-graduate students, as
well as others who may be interested in specific events.
There is a RiGLS List through which we keep
interested parties informed of Lancaster-based meetings and also draw
attention to relevant national and international conferences. To join the
List please write to Paul Baker (p.baker@lancaster.ac.uk),
cc. Jane Sunderland (j.sunderland@lancaster.ac.uk).
RiGLS meets once a week. All are welcome. Please
follow the programme link to view our plans for this term.
