	A corpus-based study of speech, writing and thought presentation in contemporary spoken British English. An AHRB-funded research project under the supervision of Professor Mick Short, Dr Elena Semino and Professor Tony McEnery. 2000-02.
	Innovative assessment methods in web-based and paper-based teaching delivery modes. A research project under the supervision of Professor Mick Short, funded by the Higher Education Development Centre, Lancaster University. 2001-02.
	A web-based course in stylistics. A research project funded by the Institute for Learning and Teaching, under the supervision of Professor Mick Short. 2000 - date.
	A corpus-based study of metaphors for the Euro in British and Italian newspapers. A British Academy funded research project under the supervision of Dr Elena Semino. 2000.
	A corpus-based study of speech, thought and writing presentation in literary and non-literary texts. A research project under the supervision of Professor Mick Short and Dr Elena Semino, jointly funded by the Faculty of Social Science, Lancaster University, and the British Academy. 1994-date.
