Research Interests

Preliminary bibliography on language use and schizophrenia.

In general, my research is in the area of cognitive critical discourse analysis. In particular, my focusis on analysing collective identity in different discourse domains, e.g. corporate and religious. I have also worked in the area of language, gender and sexual identity, and have recently become interested in language use and schizophrenia. A special research interest of mine is metaphor theory and analysis, and Iam currently involved in a research project on adapting semantic annotation software for the analysis of metaphor in discourse.

Selected publications (for a complete list, please go to http://www.lancs.ac.uk/staff/koller/Publications_Koller.pdf)

Potential Doctoral Proposals

I am particularly interested in supervising PhD students in the areas of critical discourse analysis, cognitive semantics (especially metaphor studies) and corporate communication.

I received my PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Vienna in 2003 (thesis on metaphors in business magazines). Before joining Lancaster University in 2004, I worked at the Department of English Business Communication at Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
