This conference aims to bring together researchers working in different contexts with bilingual spoken data (code-switching and other forms of language contact) in any languages. The focus will be on issues of transciption, encoding, analysis (especially automated analysis), and exchange of data among researchers. The conference coincides with the publication (in June 2000) of the LIDES Coding Manual: A Document for Preparing and Analysing Language Interaction Data by the the LIPPS Group (Language Interaction in Plurilingual and Plurilectal Speakers).

There will be a conference fee of £20 which will include lunch. Limited on-campus accommodation is available for overnight stays.

The conference will be held in the Department of Linguistics and Modern English Language, Lancaster University, and is organised by the Steering Committee of the LIPPS Group :
