I have delivered keynote and plenary addresses at a range of venues world-wide, including Birmingham (CTI Centre for Languages Conference on New Approaches to Teaching, 1996), Bologna (2nd International Translation Congress, 1992, Culture and Translation, 2000), Lodz (Practical Applications of Language Corpora, 1997, 1999) and St Louis (TESOL 2001). Internationally, I have given invited papers at Athens, Barcelona, Beijing University of Foreign Studies, Bello Horizonte, Bergen, Bologna, Bombay, Calcutta, Chemnitz, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dhaka, Gothenburg, Graz, Guangzhou University of Foreign Studies, Helsinki, IBM T.J. Watson Research Centre, Innsbruck, Insituto Chileno Britanico, Klagenfurt, Limerick, Louvain, Mysore, Oslo, Peoria, Santiago de Compostella, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Tohoku, Valladolid, Vienna and Zhongshan. I have given a variety of invited papers at various venues nationally including Brighton, Cambridge, King’s College London, Leeds, Liverpool, Salford, Sheffield, Sussex, UMIST and Wolverhampton. This year I will give plenaries at PALC 2005 (Lodz) and Corpus Linguistics 2005 (Birmingham).
