Module Descriptions for Lancaster Based MA's

Below you will find brief descriptions of all the postgraduate modules currently available for Lancaster Based MA's. You may like to use these lists to compile (provisionally) your own programme of study, but please note that although a wide range of modules are available every year, we cannot guarantee that every one will run in a particular year, as this depends upon staff availability and other factors. Please let us know at an early stage if particular modules are especially important to you.

Although we will make every effort to ensure that all of these modules run in 2012/2013 there may be some unavoidable changes.

Support Course

Postgraduate Academic Study Skills (LING 402) is designed to give students support in their academic work in general and in research methods. It is not normally taken for credit, but in some cases it is possible to do so, depending on discussion between students and the course tutor.

Choosing Your Courses

For all our MA schemes, you normally take six units of coursework for assessment, three from the selection available in Term 1 and three from the selection in Term 2. In addition you normally take the support courses and can audit one course per term (that is, actively attend the courses but not submit the work for assessment). Check the MA homepage for information about which courses are compulsory for your MA programme.
