What's it like to study with us?
To give you an idea of what it is like to come and study with us we have a selection of videos from our Undergraduate students and to give more of a sense of what we are like and our areas of interest we have some videos of members of staff talking about aspects of the Department's work.
Department Open days
We encourage applicants to come to one of our Open Days; our students tell us that the Lancaster experience is quite special and that you need to come to an Open Day in order to appreciate Lancaster's advantages.
Teaching in the Department
We are committed to high quality teaching - we like our students to have access to our research through our courses. New ideas and developments feed directly into what our students learn, and we are keen on developing the many kinds of teaching that we use.
The departmental book
In 2009 members of the Linguistics department (under the editorship of Jonathan Culpeper, Paul Kerswill, Ruth Wodak, Francis Katamba and Tony McEnery) produced the huge (718 paged!) textbook, English Language: Description, Variation and Context.
A Level English Language Website
We hope that the A Level English Language Website will be useful both to teachers and students of A-Level English Language. We intend to keep constantly modifying and updating it. Please let us know what you think of the site. We will do our best to respond to your comments.
