All research involving human participants requires informed consent to be obtained from participants. However, before any data is collected, the research needs to obtain ethical approval. This applies equally to Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate assignments, as well as to dissertations, PhD theses and research undertaken by staff and visitors.
